Two frenzied string quartets performed by two of today's best young string quartets! The Animato Quartet and the Cheng Quartet join forces musically on 18 August during this spectacular programme at the beautiful InsingerGillissen (Herengracht 537, Amsterdam). Mendelssohn wrote his octet at the age of 16, not knowing that almost 200 years later it would be one of the most beloved chamber music works ever written. A few years ago, the young Dutch composer Mathilde Wantenaar followed Mendelssohn's example and, inspired by Bartok, Debussy and Ravel, composed her own string octet.
